We asked our team what working at a women-led organization means to them.

Read some of their responses below.

Giselle Díaz Campagna is the Executive Director of The GrowHaus. During her four years in this role, Giselle has doubled the organization’s revenue and created innovative leadership and career pathways.

Giselle mentors and supports the professional growth of team members, most of whom are from the neighborhoods we serve, as they step into manager roles for the first time in their careers. With Giselle’s leadership, we have dramatically scaled the organization’s reach and impact from one zip code to 24 food access sites throughout Metro Denver, reaching nearly 6,000 people every month.

Giselle also serves as a commissioner of Healthy Food for Denver Kids (HFDK), a taxpayers-funded initiative that has awarded over $85 million in grant funding to close to 100 organizations to feed Denver’s children and provide education about food and nutrition.

Nina has lived in the community and worked at The GrowHaus for the past eight years. Nina started as a Development and Communications Coordinator and grew into the Director of Development role, with the support of mentors and robust professional development training.

Nina manages key partnerships with government agencies, foundations, individuals, our Tambien community, corporations, and strategic partners to raise over $3 million annually. She also manages multi-million dollar grant programs, evaluations/ reporting, and budgets. Nina couples large multi-year investments with earned revenue and other sources of philanthropic dollars to ensure no program at The GrowHaus relies on a single funding source or funder.

Nina is passionate about creating a culture of philanthropy and training Program Managers on budget management and fundraising/business development strategies.

Maria Elena is a Food Access Manager at The GrowHaus, overseeing the annual distribution of over 1 million pounds of fresh food. Maria Elena began working at The GrowHaus packing fresh food boxes during the pandemic and has grown into a leadership role, where she manages a team of Food Access Associates, ensures our food access hub is fully compliant with all local and state food safety requirements, and manages partnerships with community hubs across Metro Denver to ensure neighbors throughout the city can conveniently access fresh food at one of our 24 food access sites.

Maria Elena also manages communication with over 1,000 households participating in our Food Access program. She ensures they receive reminders about when and where to pick up their fresh food box and have opportunities to provide feedback. In her work as a Manager, Maria Elena also supports the growth and career pathways of Food Access Associates by providing access to professional development opportunities like English literacy classes.

Guadalupe is The GrowHaus’ Community Outreach Associate Manager, overseeing health and wellness programming for over 250 households in our community annually. Having begun at The GrowHaus nine years ago as a Promotora, Lupe brings a deep understanding of community strengths and needs to ensure our programming is relevant and impactful with strong feedback loops.

Lupe holds certifications in health and nutrition from the American Heart Association and incorporates lessons into the curriculum for home visits and classes to ensure our neighbors have access to evidence-based information.

Lupe mentioned that a woman who inspires her is Michelle Obama for her empathy, connection, and impact on her community. Thank you, Lupe, for modeling these same attributes for our community!

Brenna, The GrowHaus’ Youth Education Associate Manager, leads year-round programs to help households with children build healthy habits and support young people in their leadership journeys. Brenna’s experience working in evidence-based programs helps ensure that The GrowHaus’ youth education curriculum is responsive to program goals and adaptable to community needs.

After less than a year at The GrowHaus, Brenna has expanded youth education program offerings to include a curated home visit curriculum for households with young children and deepened partnerships to increase the availability of youth cooking classes at local community hubs.
